The success of the Microelectronics Security Training (MEST) Center is built on collaboration among 6 universities.
Since 2019, the MEST Center has been a leading hub for microelectronics security education, offering advanced hands-on training in microelectronics design, security, and trust. MEST has been dedicated to advancing education and workforce development in trusted microelectronics and hardware security across the Department of War, government, industry, and academia.
MEST partners contribute to the development and delivery of training, curriculum, and research experiences that prepare students and professionals for careers in microelectronics security. Through these collaborations, MEST provides training opportunities for SCALE students and other learners in critical technical areas, including hardware security, trusted microelectronics, semiconductor design, verification, and emerging technologies.
MEST developed curriculum and training materials are shared through nanoHUB, making high-quality educational resources broadly accessible to students, educators, researchers, defense, government, and industry professionals. In addition to coursework, MEST supports research opportunities that provide participants with hands-on experience addressing real-world challenges in microelectronics security.
The global demand for safe, reliable, and trustworthy microelectronics continues to grow rapidly. At the same time, the semiconductor industry faces challenges related to supply chain resilience and the need for a highly skilled workforce. MEST helps address these challenges by providing premier microelectronics security training developed and delivered by leading experts from academia, industry, and government.
Through education, research, and collaboration, MEST is helping build the next generation of professionals who will secure the future of microelectronics.
