Abstract

In this course, you will be introduced to the subject of hardware emulation. During the course, you will learn basic concepts of hardware emulation, general techniques for verification and validation using hardware emulation, and specific techniques for performing hardware emulation with Siemens emulation products. You will also be exposed to information on high-level workflows, case studies, and future trends in emulation.

Course Description

The course starts with basic principles of hardware emulation as an introduction to people new to the field and as a review for people who already are familiar with it. The course then provides instruction on how to bring an RTL design and corresponding testbench into the emulation platform, followed by instruction on how to run and debug the resulting verification environment. The course also covers other useful workflows and applications of emulation, such as in-circuit and software validation, and finishes up with a look at some case studies and future directions of emulation technology.

  1. Introduction to Hardware Emulation
  2. Emulation Architecture & Overview
  3. Preparing RTL for Emulation
  4. Testbench Strategies for Emulation
  5. Compilation and Emulation Flow
  6. Debug in Emulation
  7. In-Circuit Emulation (ICE) and Co-Emulation
  8. Hybrid Verification Workflows
  9. Performance Optimization
  10. Emulation Infrastructure & Resource Management
